My romance with skirts
started as I mentioned in the About, when I was 15.
It was also trying measuring at that time:
I was no. 40 from the waist above, and 44 on the hips. Sound familiar?
I found the right pattern for a skirt, which reveals the waist and hides
the hips.
This good design really flatters a woman with such measurements.
The time when I made large variety of skirts was in Barcelona, in 98, 99
and 2000.
Titan, who owned a clothing shop in central downtown Barcelona, bought a
massive amount of beautifully imprinted dresses mostly of jersey.
This style was fashionable in the seventies, before the industry started
printing with the advanced technology, which gave them another new touch.
The problem was with that big buy was, they were all big sizes - from 48
till 58.
I was challenged to change them all to simple and law waist skirts up to
the knees if I could.
I had to make them smaller, from 36 to 42.
My first proto type was accepted and I started recycling,
I was making 4 to 5 skirts a day that were immediately sold.
A specially complimenting
response to this production came one day when
Pedro Almodovar, double Oscar winner came to the shop. He was at that time
preparing for shooting “Todo sobre mi madre” in Barcelona and was looking
for costumes.
He chose a few of my designs, and I later found at least
one of those skirts in that movie.
- Besides, the upper part of those big size dresses I used to produce
very special tops.
